Menchu Gal (Irun, January 7, 1918 - Irun, 12 March, 2008) Spanish painter of great significance in the twentieth century noted for her landscapes and portraits in which the exaltation of color plays the main role.

Early in his career she was a pupil of the painter Montes Iturrioz, but soon moved to Paris (1931) to continue her studies. In 1934 Gal resides in Madrid and enrolles at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando.

In the early forties, after having taken refuge in France during the Civil War, she returned to Spain and became part of the School of Madrid. In 1953 Gal show her work at the Sala Macarron with other artists like Palencia, Solana and Zabaleta.

Among her work, there are landscapes of Hondarribia, where Gal spent her youth, Castilian landscapes and to a lesser extent the portraits and still lifes.

In 1954 and 1962 she obtained the second and third medal respectively in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts in Madrid. She also participated in the Venice Biennale in 1940, 1950 and 1956.
